No Parade ties, but Bravo to Norm
Remember Norm Bravo? – that spirited 100 year-old who’s taken on City Hall over wrongly-imposed traffic fines racked up by his old car’s future owner? Well, Norm unwittingly became the subject of much attention amongst members of the Old Paradians fraternity recently when he appeared in various print media outlets sporting what appeared to be an OP tie.
On the strength of that interest, Old Paradians Central sought out the truth – and regrettably, Norm Bravo is not one of ours.
Norm’s wife Beth kindly confirmed as much in a telephone chat, declaring that the tie, which boasted the famed colours of the old boys association, was in fact the combination fancied by the Moonee Valley Racing Club for which Norm had been a member for many years.
When asked about Norm’s scholastic life and working career, Beth revealed that her husband was born in Beaufort, then later attended school in Newmarket. She added that when Norm’s mother died, the then 12 year-old Norm was placed in St Vincent’s Boys Home – but later toiled on various farms and worked as a driver.
Though the Old Paradians can’t claim Norm as one of their own, they join the rest of the community in backing him to the hilt – and the good news is that he’s just been advised in writing that a ticket wrongly imposed upon him in Ringwood has since been cancelled.
To quote Beth – “one down, two to go!”
