A-GRADE GREATS GATHER AT GARVEY OVAL

Surviving members of the Old Paradians’ senior, reserve and junior Premiership teams of 1968 recently joined their old coaches at a reunion luncheon in the Frank Mount Social Room to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the football club’s clean sweep.

There they were each presented with commemorative medals – including Bernie O’Brien, the only surviving player to have represented the Old Paradians in all six A-Section Grand Final victories including’68, which completed the club’s second hat-trick of A Section Premiership in seven years.

Both Bernie and ’68 Premiership coach John Booth, pictured here, addressed an audience of 93 who had gathered for the luncheon prior to the Old Paradians’ senior match with Power House on the Garvey Oval.

Those in attendance included;

The 1968 A Section Premiership team coach John Booth and former players Hugh Ford, Len Foster, Peter Gordon, Brian Grindlay, Graham Mansfield, Pat Mount, Bernie O’Brien, Richard Sambell, John Tudor and Spence Williams, with family members representing the late John Coghlan, the late Cliff Hart and the late Brian Weyman;

The 1968 A Section reserve grade Premiership players Tony Audley, Gordon Denavi, Terry Henderson, Paul Jenkinson, Brendan McCusker, Michael McKinley, Jeff McLaughlin and John Mount; and

The 1968 junior grade Premiership players Brett Bahen, Gerry Dowling, Peter Gilmartin, Steve Kohut, Martin Kyne, Peter Moran and Ezio Paciocco.

Also in attendance was the 1958 B Section Premiership team coach Maurie Considine and former players John Booth, Ron Bunn and Neil Pivetta, along with the 1988 Under 19 Premiership team coach Ian Bibby and former players Nick Mills and Matt Vear
