CLASS OF ’78 FRONTS UP AT THE KENT

Members of Parade’s class of 1978 – amongst them Jude Caspersz pictured here with long-serving teachers John Nicholls, John Ramsdale and John Joss – have celebrated the 40th anniversary of their final year of College at Carlton’s salubrious Kent Hotel in Rathdowne Street.

Fifty former students of ’78, a few of them jetting in from interstate, frequented the Kent’s private function room upstairs, in keeping with the class’s tradition of reuniting off site rather than back at Bundoora.

“It was a ripping Saturday,” said event organiser Matthew Fleming. “Just on 50 students and five teachers (Ian Bibby, ‘Jossy’, Mick Kennedy, John Nicholls and John Ramsdale) made it along and grey hair and shiny craniums was the order of the day.”

“It was a really good get-together, the first for a number of guys even though we’d previously held reunions ten, 20, 30 and 35 years out . . . one of the boys ‘Chook’ Cosgriff now reckons we’ll have another in three years’ time when we all turn 60.”
