NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR OPA AWARDS

Over the past six years, the Old Paradians’ Association has instituted a number of annual awards designed to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of the Parade College community or the community at large.

In 2010, the Association founded a Hall of Fame in acknowledgment of those former students who by their contributions to society served and continue to serve as authentic role models for present and future generations of College students.

Four years later, in its Centenary Year of 2014, the Association established an Honorary Old Paradian Award to recognise those men who, whilst not schooled at Parade, have contributed significantly to the cause of the College and/or the Association over a significant period.

That same year, the OPA founded a Community Service Award in tribute to those Old Paradians who have contributed significantly to the welfare of those in need. The most recent winner, Alex Fabiani (1976), recently delivered a moving address at the recent Old Paradians’ Association Luncheon at the RACV Melbourne club.

It also initiated a Woman of Distinction Award, in recognition of those women who have contributed significantly to the cause of the College and/or the Association over many years. Barbara Bibby and Patricia Joss were both honored with this award recently.

The award recipients in each of these categories can be viewed in the Hall of Fame section of the Association website by clicking on the following link then scrolling down - http://www.oldparadians.com.au/about/hall-of-fame

While Award recipients are recommended by the Association committee, and some winners have already been presented with their awards this year, the committee welcomes future nominations in all categories from both the Old Paradians and Parade College communities.

Nominations can be lodged with the Association CEO via email - Tony.DeBolfo@parade.vic.edu.au - or by telephone, 9468 3301.

If you know of an Old Paradian or member of the Parade College community worthy of being so honoured in any of the following categories - Hall of Fame, Honorary Old Paradian, Community Service and Woman of Distinction - please contact the Old Paradians’ Association at your earliest convenience.

The Association will also consider nominations for the Tenete Award, which was instituted by the Association in 1974 to mark the 60th anniversary of its existence and renew its pledge to serve Parade College and its students.

The Tenete Award acknowledges an individual’s service in the interests of the College.
