PARADE COLLEGE

SEAN WILLMORE

1972 -

Sean completed Year 12 at Parade in 1990 and was an active member of the group. One of four brothers schooled at the College, Sean loved sport and was a very dependable player in the 1st XVIII football team, often given the job of tagging the best players in the opposition side. He undertook this task with great determination and relish, qualities he would take into his life after leaving the College. Sean worked as a Park Ranger for 10 years, often facing many dangerous situations. He was awarded a medal of bravery from the Royal Humane Society through a sad attempt to save a drowning man in waters of Wilsons Promontory, Victoria in 1997.

Sean began his journey of awakening and call to action of the plight of rangers in other parts of the world in 2003, at an International Ranger Federation Conference. He put his life on hold and set off across the world to film stories across remote wilderness areas, culminating in the inspiring premiere of the Thin Green Line in 35 countries, in 330 locations on World Ranger Day, July 2007, that captured the hearts of people worldwide. The Thin Green Line Foundation was then founded, providing a vital lifeline to the frontlines of conservation and a critical advocate for rangers' rights and protection. Sean is an internationally recognised, award-winning conservationist, internationally celebrated founder of the Thin Green Line Foundation and former President of the International Ranger Federation. His tireless and courageous work to defend rangers on the frontlines of conservation has sparked a global movement for change.

When not advocating for rangers' rights and protection around the world, Sean, his wife Monika and son Lenny have found some paradise now residing in Penguin, Tasmania.
