PARADE COLLEGE

John Nicholls (OPA Secretary and Alumni Officer) had the pleasure of catching with a couple of Old Paradians recently in London. Chris Ecclestone (1978) made all the arrangements but unfortunately work in Saudi Arabia prevented him from attending. Similarly, Peter Wilson (1978), renowned journalist and now freelance writer, was on his way to the Antarctic on assignment!

John was thrilled to meet Mick Reid (1981) and Brendan O’Leary (1979) in a 500-year-old pub, The Prospect on Whitby, in Wapping, a former docks area on the River Thames.

Mick has resided in the UK on and off for 30 years. A gifted student at school, Mick got into journalism on a cadetship at the then Sun Newspaper and has forged a varied career in the industry. He is currently a freelance writer.

Brendan has lived in London for many years marrying a medical specialist and works as a solutions software engineer. We were able to reminisce and share stories over a few pints on a very cold English evening.
