The November OPA RACV Lunch took place recently where College Principal Mark Aiello (1990) addressed the guests with an update on news from the College. Pat Mount (1962) again assumed the Master of Ceremonies role and again did an excellent ob. Pat was able to welcome Old Paradian, Carmelite Priest Fr Matthew McPhee (1946) who led guest in Grace and also was able to sing a couple of Irish ballads! He did an amazing job with a sweet voice undimmed by his 94 years.
Mark was able to provide guests with an update on College activities and events. He spoke of strong enrolment demand, the wealth of vocational education offerings, the College Sport Academies at Preston and Bundoora, the excitement of the significant development of having fulltime girls enrolled into our Sport Academy at the Preston campus, the very many and varied opportunities the College offers it’s students in sport, trade, academic, performing arts, service education to name a few. Mark spoke of the impact of current EBA negotiations on College expenses and impact on fee increases. Mark was able to show a number of images on the screen that highlight the many facets of College life.
Our final lunch for the year will take place Wednesday December 10. Guest speaker will be Noel Clement (1984). Noel will also receive an OPA Community Service Award for service to the community through charitable organisations.
