PARADE COLLEGE

Another wonderful lunch took place at the RACV Cub Wednesday 13 July 2022.

Pat Mount (1963) did the honours as MC and did a superb job.

Pat was able to call upon Chris Bibby (1984) to provide an update on how the OPAFC was travelling. Chris was able to report that all three teams are set to play finals. The 1st XVIII have been in excellent form to move to 3rd position on the ladder. Similarly, the 2nd XVIII are in 3rd spot and the 3rd XVIII are guaranteed finals. Chris reported that Simon Vincent, the Committee and football staff have been doing an excellent job and looking forward to challenges of finals.

John Nicholls, Secretary of the Old Paradians' Association and College Alumni Officer, was able to give some details of OPA activities and events including the forthcoming reunions, the Hall of Fame Annual Dinner scheduled for October 21 at Parade Bundoora and the Parade College Foundation.

Pat welcomed Peter Bedford (1963) to the microphone who spoke of his formative years in and around Port Melbourne, his attendance at Parade and the influence of the brothers, his love of sports especially cricket. Pat Mount commented that the name Peter Bedford was regularly highlighted when talking of sport results at the school. Peter was able to highlight the irony of receiving his 1970 Brownlow at Sir Dallas Brooks Hall, the very same site where he started his time at Parade on the old CLC site.

Peter was able to share his cricket recollections in incredible detail of players, venues, scores (his own and others). Peter is a proud Old Paradian, this year inducted into the Old Paradians Hall of Fame.

Pat advised that next months Luncheon is a Father and Son lunch, however as always everyone is welcome.
