The Old Paradians' Association was saddened to hear of the passing of Ted Egan AO. Ted has been referred to as an Australian legend, a national treasure and a true Australian. A strong advocate for the Northern Territory and Aboriginal land rights, Ted served as Administrator for the Northern Territory from 2003 to 2007. A remarkable Australian, with a resume including folk music legend, poet, troubadour, author, crocodile hunter, reserve superintendent, teacher, founder of the famous St Mary’s Football Club on the Tiwi Islands, to name but a few!

Ted was a great bush musician, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Golden Guitar Awards, the Country Music Association of Australia and the Australian Folk Federation. Ted was also an inaugural Life Member of the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame

Ted died on 4 December 2025 at the age of 93. He was honoured with a State Funeral.
