PARADE COLLEGE

A welcome visitor to Old Paradians’ Association central recently was Norm Nugent, whose son Alan was a former student at Parade’s Bundoora campus from Years 7-10 (1980 and ’83).

In seeking to learn a little more about Alan’s career pathway since he last lugged his schoolbooks out of Parade Drive, Norm was able to provide the following details.

Alan, pictured here with his wife Krista in July, completed his medical degree at Melbourne in 1991 and was then appointed as a resident and registrar at the Children’s Hospital. He relocated to Boston in 1999, ostensibly for two years which have now extended to 20.

In that time, Alan has served at children’s hospitals in Boston, Houston, Dallas and now Chicago where he is a Professor of Paediatrics in Cardiology attached to the North Western University as Medical Director of Interventional Cardiac Catheterization at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.

“While in Boston, Alan played and coached the local AFL team and then assumed duties as coach of the US AFL,” Norm added.
