PARADE COLLEGE

The Old Paradians' Association hosted its monthly luncheon in August.

Our guest speaker was 1970 Brownlow Medallist, 5-time Best and Fairest at South Melbourne, Swans Team of the Century and AFL Hall of Fame recipient Peter Bedford (1964).

Remarkably, 1970 was a huge year of achievement for Peter. Commencing with Victoria and playing in a winning Sheffield Shield Final, and a member of South Melbourne’s First Semi-Final side. This was the only time he played finals in his career, and in the same year, he won the Brownlow.

At the lunch, Peter was able to reflect upon the state of the game, the state of the rules of the game, the umpires, and tell some amusing stories of characters in the AFL. His take off of the legendary Hawthorn coach John Kennedy was terrific.

Pat Mount (1963) and Peter Johnson (1973) again did an outstanding job as MC and coordinator respectively of the lunch. Guests enjoyed a lovely meal and good company.
