PARADE COLLEGE

Fifteen years ago, when the law was amended to allow adopted children to seek contact with their biological parents, Old Paradian Paul Power (adopted as an infant in 1940) commenced an unsuccessful search for his biological mother.

Through developments in DNA technology, Paul has since succeeded in discovering her identity and met with his previously unknown half-siblings.

Paul, pictured here addressing fellow former classmates of 1956 at a 60-year reunion at the old Celtic Club, will discuss his fascinating and very personal journey of discovery at the upcoming Old Paradians’ Association Monthly Luncheon, at the RACV City Club, 501 Bourke Street, Melbourne, on Wednesday, March 13.

He will discuss some of the potential pitfalls and unexpected consequences of utilising such technology and will reveal the more pleasant surprises and “small world” coincidences that have emerged along the way.
