On July 11 this year, the Old Paradians Football Club celebrated its annual Life Members Day, proudly inducting three outstanding Club stalwarts Chris Kandalakis, Anthony Sheehy and Chris Bibby, as the Club’s newest Life Members.

The Club was delighted to welcome members of the Mount family to the occasion. As part of the day, the club also recognised the extraordinary contribution of Frank Mount Snr to the Old Paradians Football Club and the broader Old Paradian's community.

Frank Mount was one of the Club’s three founding fathers, alongside Lou Arthur and Perce Matthews, when the Club was established in 1929. His association with the Club spanned more than half a century and established a remarkable legacy for the Mount family within the Old Paradian's community.

A former Parade student who completed his schooling in 1918, Frank’s loyalty to the College remained unwavering throughout his life. He served the Old Paradians Football Club in numerous capacities, including Senior Coach from 1931–1936 and again in 1952; President from 1938–1947 and 1967–1969; and as a Committee member from 1931 until 1988. He also served for many years as Chairman of Selectors.

Frank’s dedication and service played a significant role in establishing the strong traditions of loyalty, mateship and service that have become synonymous with the Club.

His influence extended well beyond his playing and coaching days. His name remains proudly associated with the Club through the Frank Mount Social Rooms at Garvey Oval, established in recognition of his extraordinary service to Parade College, the Old Paradians’ Association and the Old Paradians Football Club.

Frank was also the inaugural recipient of the Old Paradians’ Association’s prestigious Tenete Award in 1974, recognising his outstanding and longstanding service to the College and the Association. In 2024, Frank was also inducted into the OPA Hall of Fame to honour his contribution to society and serving as an authentic role model for the present and future generations of the Parade community.

Frank Mount passed away in September 1989, aged 86. His legacy, however, continues to live on through the Football Club, the Social Rooms that proudly bear his name and, perhaps most importantly, through the generations of the Mount family who have continued his tradition of service and contribution to the Old Paradian's community.
